Theater/ Dance alumnus Rodney Munoz was honored with an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program or a Special. He earned the Emmy for his work on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Prior to working on the Jimmy Kimmel show Munoz spent many years in New York heading the costume department for the “David Letterman Show.”
As a student here at Cypress College, he designed costumes for a production of “Little Shop of Horrors” directed by Mark Majarian. His creative designs for the show, which included design and construction of the man-eating, alien plant called for by the plot, was nominated to compete in the American College Theater Festival
“Rodney competed at both the regional and national festivals against other student designers from many of the nation’s most prestigious university and college theater programs… and won!” said Steve Banneck.
After completing his studies here, Munoz transferred to New York University. While there, he interned working on the Broadway production of “The Lion King.”
“His career has been going strong ever since, Banneck said.
