The Orange County Register reported on Friday about the release of Cypress College’s 2014 Annual Safety and Security Report. The article, by Louis Casiano Jr. mentions the newly revised sexual assault policy and the campus’ active use of social media to keep students informed about safety-related information.
The school recently released it annual safety report, showing 11 reported incidents on its main and Anaheim campuses last year, following 10 reported in 2012. That’s down considerably from the 20 incidents reported in 2011.
College officials credit the high level of campus safety to proactive policing and school surroundings.
“We patrol the campuses frequently, and if students have issues and concerns, we try to assess those immediately,” said Shirley Smith, the director of campus safety.
